Coziness at home won’t be perfect without a harmonious interior design. Yet, no need to be an architect or interior designer to do that. Anyone can do that, with a little knowledge and sense of art.

Let me tell you some secrets to help you redesign your home:

• Functional & Artistic

Understanding the function of each room in your house is one of the most important things in an effective home design. This helps you arrange the furniture.

Next, it’s about balance. If you paint a room in bright colors, balance it with relaxing colors for your bed and side tables. Balancing is related to proportion. Never ever place a big big cupboard in a small small kitchen. Also, try to match one furniture with the others.

Now, about the traffic, both for you and your furnishings. Make it practical. Don’t put any objects before a door or at a hall that might give you trouble in passing the room.

• Play with Color

Just like human beings, colors also have characters. Red, yellow and orange, they are grouped into hot colors while blue, green and purple are cool colors. Using the hot colors, you can brighten your day. And, painting the walls with cool colors gives a romantic touch. These colors might affect you psychologically. So, you’d better be careful while choosing the right ones.

• Lighting

The main purpose of lighting is simply to illuminate the room. Yet, it has changed. It has two other important functions: decoration and support of activities.

Decoration here means that it adds beauty to your rooms. You can use one or two lamps with certain colors to spot on your pictures or paintings. It depends on how you like it.

Lamp is also necessary in supporting your activities. You can use a reading lamp in your library. Or you can use a kitchen lamp to give you more illumination while you cook.

The point is just be gutsy in experimenting with the decorations. Invite a friend or two for an afternoon tee and ask their opinion about your house.
