Narcissism, sounds like a good name for a monster. The narcissist is chasing you, run. I guess the truth is narcissism and the behavior attached to this... is it a disorder, a personality defect or what? Narcissism, let's call it a defect in personality, is self will run riot, a monster of sorts
He has a swagger to his walk and he reeks of the nasty smelling men's cologne. If you shake hands with him, you will smell like cologne for the rest of your life. He can't be trusted because he will tell you anything to get what he wants, and he always wants what you have. He works for himself because he is too rebellious to handle authority for any length of time. He is a pathological liar, a thief, a womanizer and he always has an answer to everything. He is intellect, articulate and a salesperson/politician. He could careless about society, religion, or anything else that does not involve him. This "he" can also be a woman. Narcissism occurs in personalities not genders. This might not be a good example of a person infected with narcissism but it is close.
Does this type of personality affect society in general? Of course it does. When you have an individual infected with narcissism, it affects society as a whole. Think about this, if society is perpetually breeding narcissistic individuals how long will it take to destroy the honest values and morals of a society? I don't know and I hope we don't find out.
America is the perfect breeding ground for narcissistic individuals. Our society promotes and encourages selfish behavior. Advertising, the media in general salutes individualism. Forget your neighbor and think only of yourself. If our society is to survive, it will be necessary to develop a code of conduct, which includes others. The old biblical term, love your neighbor has yourself would work really well today. In fact, this biblical code could give our society a chance to survive a few more years.
