The 2010 Cadillac STS is a premium luxury sedan that arrives with a base 3.6L six cylinder engine. The six cylinder engine possesses a bevy of high tech features, starting with the direct injection fuel injection system. Cadillac was an early adopter of this technology, which boosts both fuel economy and power in the engine. The engine produces a stout three hundred and two horsepower at six thousand three hundred revolutions per minute, and returns two hundred seventy-two pounds of torque at five thousand two hundred revolutions per minute.
All of this power is delivered through a six speed automatic transmission with overdrive to the rear wheels of the sedan. The Environmental Protection Agency has rated the Cadillac STS with the 3.6L six cylinder engine at eighteen miles per gallon in city driving and twenty-seven miles per gallon on the highway. The Cadillac STS is a strong performer on the test track also. The sedan accelerates from zero to sixty in six and four-tenths seconds, and covers the quarter mile in fourteen and nine-tenths seconds with a top speed of ninety-seven miles per hour. The base engine compares very favorably with the optional 4.6L eight cylinder engine; the eight cylinder engine produces only eighteen more horsepower while giving away three miles per gallon in city driving and three miles per gallon in highway driving. The sedan includes a number of standard features, including a dual-zone automatic climate control system, anti-lock brakes on all four wheels, and and AM/FM stereo w/ 6-disc CD changer with an input for an MP3 player. So whether its performance or luxury, the 2010 Cadillac STS delivers on all counts.
