In its third year of the second generation model, the 2010 Cadillac CTS is well reviewed and is sure to be a hit with the consumers.  The 2010 Cadillac CTS comes standard with a 3.6 liter, six cylinder engine which produces 263 horsepower and 253 pound feet of torque.  The 3.6 liter engine can come with either a six speed manual transmission of a six speed automatic transmission.  This engine has decent fuel efficiency of with averages of 18 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway.

For those interested in getting more push out of their 2010 Cadillac CTS, the same engine is available except it uses direct injection, which means it pumps gasoline directly into the cylinders in a mist, which in turn results in a higher power output than traditional engines.  This is the first direct injection system produced by an American automaker, and it is believed to produce cleaner emissions than traditional fuel injection systems.  The direct injection system produces an impressive 304 horsepower and 273 pound feet of torque.  Test drivers have gone from 0 to 60 in just 6.5 seconds using the direct injection system.  The direct injection system engine has the same transmission options and similar fuel efficiency as the other CTS engine option. 

The engine options within the 2010 Cadillac CTS are similar to the engines which were used in the 2008 and 2009 Cadillac CTS.  The engines within the second generation Cadillac CTS are also similar to the first generation engine, although the direct fuel injection system was not always available highway.
