Choosing the Right Moisturizer for your Skin Type

The right moisturizer for your skin type is essential for daily skin care. The way we take care of our skin is important. So starting the day by applying moisturizer is a good skin care habit that can help prevent dryness and skin irritation due to environmental factors such as pollution and bacteria that are present in the environment.

Choosing the right moisturizer can be very difficult to both men and women, some may have allergic reactions to such moisturizers and some can cause irritation that can be source of acnes or pimples. The right moisturizer starts with what kind of skin we have so we buy the products that are good and don't harm our skin, but before we buy the right one we have to try it first so we may know how our skin reacts to it.

The first thing to decide is the kind of moisturizer to use: is it lotion or cream? Creams rich with emollients are good for dry skin, in the daytime it is best that you use moisturizers that have SPF of at least 15 and for night time emollient rich cream.  If your skin is oily you should use a light gel or lotion. If you have sensitive skin the most common skin irritants are moisturizers that have fragrances. Always consider to do a patch test on your skin before applying it all over your body or face.

For skin that is always oily buy a moisturizer like a light lotion or gel that is oil free like a product that is water-based and noncomedogenic. Never use a product that is too strong for your skin to handle because you skin will produce more oil. Homemade skin care such as an oatmeal mask or clay mask can absorb oil on your skin.
