· If there is one single thing that you can do for yourself that requires no money and no effort but has the effect of making you rich beyond your dreams and powerful in all moments of your life, it is to develop an attitude of gratitude.
· If you never sit down for one minute of silent meditation or never consciously use your abilities to create what you desire, or you put this article down and never pick it up again, you can still feel connected and one with your source if you do this one thing. Develop an attitude of gratitude.
· If you ever feel that life is beating you down and it's just not fair and the events and circumstances of your life are not your fault, develop an attitude of gratitude.
· If you take for granted the life that you have created and the relationships you have developed and you think that your life should be different, develop an attitude of gratitude.
· If you do this one thing, develop an attitude of gratitude, and be sincere and genuine in its development, then you will wake up. You have to wake up because when you are truly thankful for the abundance in your life, you then become “aware” of that abundance.
How many people are aware of the abundance that fills their lives right now? Not only are most people not aware of the abundance they do have they are often more concerned with the things, the material possessions, which you don't have right now.
In our materialistic society we are told by others (many through our television sets) that we need more stuff to be happy and fulfilled, and when we acquire and possess the stuff they tell us we should have, they bring out more stuff, newer, improved, better stuff and tell us that we need that.
It is a never ending parade of materialistic junk that we buy into as a measure of whether or not we allow ourselves to be happy and fulfilled. We never appreciate what we have because we continually look to have more. This vicious circle doesn't end until we develop an attitude of gratitude.
How can being thankful for something stop us from wanting more and more possessions? Because the attitude of gratitude you develop is an all-encompassing concept that includes the material and the non-material, the physical and the meta-physical, the good and the bad, the expected and the unexpected, the loved and the feared.
When you become grateful for all things physical and meta-physical, you appreciate and value the aspects of life that you had previously given short shrift to. Instead of worrying about how you can obtain your next worthless material possession, you start to explore how you can create your next manifestation of love. Your value system shifts as your appreciation level escalates. The idea of more and more possessions becomes less and less appealing with more and more gratitude.
This attitude of gratitude is one of acceptance of all that you have created in your life and the acknowledgment that you have so much abundance. This is different than the half-hearted thank you given at Christmas for the Rocky and Bullwinkle tie. This is an attitude. And an attitude is persuasive. It is sincere. It is part of you. When the attitude of gratitude becomes part of you, you will know your connectedness with your source and become one with the all.
