This is the second part of the heat pump FAQ's. Heat pumps are very common in cold climate countries and they are not only utilized during the winter season, they are also utilized during the summer season because they can function as an air conditioner as well. Do not let the name of the device fool you, because a lot of people tend to get confused with it from heaters or heating systems. To continue with the most common questions that most heat pump owners have with their heating systems here are a few more information that you might find useful.
What is the usual lifespan of a heat pump? Usually, these pumps will last for a decade, however, you will have to constantly service it and have I checked up and assessed just to make sure that it is functioning properly and that the pipes as well as the whole system for that matter is in top condition. These devices are very cost efficient and they can last for a very long time. If you will regularly having your device checked, it will last for a long time and it will allow you to get back the money you spent on it.
Should I have my emergency heating turned on during extreme winter or cold conditions outside the house? This will depend on whatever heat model you have installed in your house as a means of a back up heating system. Keep in mind that the whole geothermal heating system is installed in the first place to help you provide as much energy and money savings as possible. If you have a back up heating system that utilizes electricity as a source, then this is definitely not recommended. It might be best if you will just allow your heat pump to function because it can still function effectively up to an outside temperature of fifteen degrees or lower.
Should I regularly check my air filtration system? It all depends on the area that your house is situated. If you get a lot of dust and debris in the air, then I suggest that you check the air filter of your heating system constantly. During constant use, it is recommended that a monthly check up is made and a replacement is done each and every time the air filter will be very dirty and as soon as the debris starts to interfere with the normal air flow.
Should you cover your outdoor heating unit? Well, this all depends on what kind of cover you have in mind. If you are planning to install screen covers on your heat pumps then this is possible. Just as long as the cover is used to hinder the debris and the dirt from accumulating and not to hinder the air flow, then the answer is yes, you can install a cover for it. Just make sure that you provide adequate distance and air flow. And as always, try to look for the best in installation heat pump in your area whenever you need one.
