London For The Weekend

London is known as the city that never sleeps which makes it the perfect destination for anyone in search of an action packed weekend adventure. Tourists from around the globe flock to the city throughout the year in search of a little glamour and excitement making it the number one destination for a quick city break.

London offers a huge range of activities and entertainment catering for all ages and tastes. There are numerous child friendly activities on offer from the Science Museum and Natural History Museum to Madame Tussauds and the famous Hamleys toyshop. For the adult travellers there are a multitude of cultural venues, art galleries and national landmarks to visit as well as numerous clubs and pubs throughout the city. You’ll find everything from the celebrity filled Funky Buddha to traditional ‘spit and sawdust’ pubs for which London is famous.

If you are organising your trip yourself you can find last minute tickets for some of the most popular theatre shows at kiosks in the city’s famous Leicester Square and with many shows offering cheap matinees you can often find tickets for your favourite show at a fraction of their usual cost. London is also one for the best places to see live music, anything from jazz and classical to pop and rock, there are venues throughout the city with regular concerts featuring artists at the top of their profession.

For the traveller looking for a little more culture, London offers some of the best sightseeing in Europe. A trip on one of the London bus tours will help orientate you to the city and allow you to hop on and off as you please. They will take you past most of the city’s most iconic sights such as Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Big Ben and the Tower of London

If the bright lights and fast paced city centre leaves you feeling a little frazzled then take a trip out to the quiet suburbs. Here there are some great parks and cosy pubs to relax in. Wimbledon, Richmond and Ealing are among the places that can provide a little sanctuary to the weary London visitor.

Getting to London couldn’t be easier these days. You can jump on a train from almost anywhere in the country and flights to London Heathrow are available from many local airports offering great transport links to the city centre so you can get started on your holiday as soon as your plane touches down. Numerous hotels and B and Bs are listed on the city’s tourist information sites making it easy and straight forward to find accommodation in you price range and with London boasting some of the best museums, galleries, restaurants and music you’ll never be short of something new to see on your weekend getaway.
