Croatia is one of those countries where you just want to try everything and see every place possible. This country is so beautiful and so culturally rich that we found it very hard to choose our destinations in it. We went to Croatia last year along with another couple who was celebrating its 25th wedding anniversary.

Not that we like to tag along with people on their vacation, but when they offered us to come, we just couldn't resist. We enjoyed a lot in Croatia, but there was one place that took our collective breaths away. Karlobag is tiny town lying on the Adriatic coast. With beautiful Velebit mountain range overlooking it, Karlobag lies on an island called Pag.

We reached Karlobag by default as we one of friends had lost its passport (temporarily), so we could not fly out of the country. We decided to make most of our extended stay and decided to go the eastern border of Croatia to Karlobag. This town has a mountainous town called Gospic in its east and a town called Senj in the north. There is a river called Gacka in this area which is very beautiful.

Karlobag has a long history and has been very important for Croatia. While roaming in the town, we discovered its long history. It was established in 14th by Charles IV who is known as Holy Roman Emperor. Our first stop in the "exploration of Karlobag was Kotor. This is an archeological area. Here, archeologists have found remains of medieval houses and some prehistoric settlements also. This place is so amazing that one can actually picture ancient emperors and civilians roaming around in the cobbled streets. Here, there are also the remains of an ancient medieval church.

One fantastic venue in Karlobag is Crikvenica. This part has many historical sites and is a must visit for everyone. This beautiful town has a beautiful port and many restaurants and eateries Crikvenica actually lays on a small piece of land between Dubra
