Situated about 100 miles south of Nassau, in the Bahamas, is the Half moon cay. This is supposed to be the most beautiful of the cruise line's private islands. The vibrant azure waters are attractive to the visitors of this island. The island has about nine miles of beach that stretch through out. This is truly a paradise. Once you get to Half moon cay, you feel like you are in heaven. The cruise liner Holland America owns this island and is it's private island. The island has an yellow archway at the entrance and has a miniature village as well.

This place is situated in a bay and waters are calm here. One can do the following things in Half moon cay:-

 

Swimming in the calm waters can be a lot of fun. You should be able to rent a Hobie Catamaran, sunfish sailboat, View boards. You can also rent out kayaks, or aqua cycles or float mats. A separate area has been designated for these activities. In this particular island, you can go snorkeling with the fishes, dive, Jet Ski and do a few other water based sports. Jet skiing is good fun and so are other sports. You can tie your hammock and go off to sleep if you are really tired after playing all the water based sports. You can go for deep sea fishing which will cost you around $120. If you want something that pumps your adrenaline, then scuba diving is a great option for you.

Restaurants and shopping

 

On this island, one can get buffets. Luncheon barbeque, covered dining areas as well as an ice cream shop are available for the visitors. There is also a bar that serves frozen drinks as well as cocktails. The island doesn't provide much shopping options to it's visitors. There is only one shopping store around here. A wide range of items are available in this shop. Starting from straw goods to standard souvenirs, you can get it all here.
