Film Studies
One of the largest industries known to mankind is the film industry. Now why do you think this is? It's simple really; people love to watch movies. It's just one of those things that never gets old or goes out of style. Just like food, clothes, and liquor, folks always want more and more great entertainment. The film industry just has to worry about keeping up with their audience. If you're a movie nut yourself, then you may want to give film studies a shot. This is a wonderful career path to take. Just make certain you've got the heart and drive for the business.
Back in college I made the decision to tackle film studies as a minor. I do realize that most people say this is a useless form of studies. Don't get me wrong; I definitely know where they're coming from. Most likely they feel that far too many people are struggling to penetrate the film industry. Although I would agree with that, I can't agree with film studies being a waste of anyone's time. In reality, if you enjoy cinema, you might as well delve into a few film classes. If nothing else, this will allow you to better understand the way movies work. But, I'm absolutely not encouraging anyone to dismiss a career in film. If your passion is for film, then you had better pursue it. Just like any industry known to man, it is competitive. Name one industry that isn't! They all are because there are so many people walking this earth. It's only natural that plenty of them would harbor a passion for film studies and the entertainment industry. As we all know, there is a great deal of money to be made in this glitz and glamour business.
You shouldn't have much trouble finding a university that offers film studies programs. You don't have to go all out and seek a degree from the biggest film school in New York or California. The truth is if you're passio
nate about film and have great ideas, then nothing is going to change that. Some of the biggest directors and producers came up from virtually nothing at all. The film industry is about drive and great ideas. So delve into a film studies program that suits you and play it by ear. Who knows; you just may be the next James Cameron or Jerry Bruckheimer.
