What The Heck Is A Schwinn Electric Scooter?
When you hear the name "Schwinn", what first pops to mind? My mind reading skills leave a lot to be desired, but I feel confident guessing that you thought of a bicycle. Schwinn is one of the most popular brands of bikes in America for decades. Even when Kermit the Frog rode a bike in "The Muppet Movie", it was a modified Schwinn. But times have changed, and Schwinn has had to expand its product line to keep up, including the addition of many Schwinn electric scooters.
What Do They Look Like?
Some Schwinn electric scooters look like handles stuck onto a skateboard. Others look like mopeds that have gone on a crash diet. However, unlike mopeds, you don't need insurance for them. And most mopeds run on gas and not electricity. They are only for one person to use, and some even have weight limits of 110 or 150 pounds. They are skinny enough to be ridden on sidewalks.
Who Buys This Stuff?
\
A lot of people, apparently. Although Schwinn electric scooters are marketed for kids, a lot of young adults use them for minor errands or for having fun. They are also in great demand in countries where buying a car or motorcycle is out of the budgets of most people. According to EV Word Newswire, there are 186 electric scooter plants in China alone (not all for Schwinn electric scooters, mind you).
Are They Safe?
This is a question of some debate for some people. However, nothing that moves is completely safe. There are still more car accidents than there are electric scooter accidents. It is recommended that you wear some sort of helmet when you go out for a joyride. Also, most Schwinn electric scooters don't go over 15 miles per hour. That's still faster than walking (and faster than most people can run), but not enough to cause a lethal impact if you suddenly collide into a tree.
Because of the rise in popularity among motor scooters all over the world, motorists are now more aware that they exist and are on the lookout for them. Still no matter what you drive, you shouldn't play in traffic with a vehicle that can only go 15 miles an hour. That will make you unpopular with the other drivers fast, and may also get you arrested. Please use some common sense when riding your Schwinn electric scooter or any kind of motor scooter.
