Currently, the most popular types of vinyl flooring are tile and sheets with glueless tiles being the easiest to install and the most do-it-yourself friendly type of vinyl. Vinyl sheets available in six and 12 foot lengths, make a seamless and more pattern consistent appearance, but it takes some experience to lay a vinyl sheet on most floors.

From single colors to a variety of tones, it can also be found to resemble wood, stone or ceramic finishes and modern technology in printing makes design selection virtually limitless. It is also one of the most affordable floor coverings available, when compared to most other types of flooring materials.
Comfort is another feature of vinyl flooring that makes it attractive, as it offer resilience when standing on it for long periods. It is much more comfortable then other hard surfaces and it can help stop breakage from dropped items, such as glasses, that typically shatter when they hit hard surfaces. Vinyl flooring is also easy to maintain, requiring much less effort than many other types of flooring to keep it looking new.
Vinyl Can Be Installed Anywhere
In addition to being installed on any level, even below grade, vinyl flooring can be installed over almost any type of sub floor, except carpeting and with vinyl sheets they are completely waterproof, protecting the sub floor from water damage. It does not absorb liquids and the solid sheets do not provide any spaces for dirt to accumulate.
While vinyl flooring has many advantages, consider the fact that it will not improve the value of a house. Typically, other types of flooring such as wood or laminate can improve a home's value, vinyl does not. Additionally, while most wood floors are subject to scratches, vinyl flooring is also prone to gouging and tears if heavy items are dragged across the surface. If heavy traffic is anticipated installing heavier, more durable vinyl is recommended.
Installing a sheet-size vinyl flooring is not friendly for do it yourself installers as the cuts around corners and other obstacles will require a considerable amount of time and patience. Additionally, once a cut is made it cannot by unmade and an unexpected seam will be apparent in the finished floor.
