What The Heck Is Energy Meditation?

Energy meditation is a practice where you combine creative visualization and meditation in order to help you get through life better. Energy meditation is known under a variety of names, including "grounding", "cosmic meditation" and "magical thinking." For the purposes of convenience, we'll just call it "energy meditation" throughout this article.

It's Not A Requirement

Energy meditation is not for everybody. If you don't see the point of it or can't imagine yourself ever practicing it, then your instinct is probably telling you to try something else. Energy meditation has helped many people over thousands of years. It's also recommended by those who want to explore the occult or take up modern paganism. But you don't have to be of any particular religion to practice energy meditation. You also don't need to assume any particular bodily position.

Activate Your Imagination

Energy meditation is appealing to people who have a strong imagination, or who can remember images in their head very clearly. As adults, we are often urged to tone down the incredibly vivid imaginations of our childhoods. Imagination can be a powerful resource for helping us deal with life. You don't have to be an artist to benefit from letting your imagination loose.

If you haven't used your imagination in a while, then take some time to remember your favorite food. Think about how it looks, smells, feels and tastes. Recall it so that your mouth is watering. If you are on a diet, perhaps you should try recalling a favorite face, instead. Do this for a few minutes a day for a few days or a few weeks in order to limber up your mind for energy meditation.

What It Is

Now you are ready to begin energy meditation. Like anything else, it takes practice to get comfortable with. There is no right and no wrong way to do energy meditations. You won't be tested on this. Relax and breathe deeply, getting into a meditative state. Initially, you'll want a quiet place to do this, but in time, you will be able to do energy meditation anywhere.

Imagine pulses, streams or currents of invisible energy all around you. Imagine one current having a color you really like. Also visualize that this energy current will help give you all the energy you need to get through your life without any after effects. Walk into it and let it fill you. That's it. Repeat whenever is convenient for you.
