Nintendo Wii Mario Kart Review

I was a huge fan of the original Mario Kart and when Nintendo announced that they were making a Nintendo Wii Mario Kart I was extremely excited. This article is an in-depth look at Nintendo Wii Mario Kart so that you can decide if it something for you.

Nintendo Wii Mario Kart: The Pros and Cons

Nintendo Wii Mario Kart is the latest in the long standing Mario Kart series. This game is a kart racing game and was released just recently to Japan and the European markets. It will be released in North America on April 27th, 2008. Each game will come with the Wii Wheel accessory for accurate steering and game play.

In Nintendo Wii Mario Kart players can choose from one of 25 unique characters. Each of these characters is grouped into a weight class which effects how there characters perform in game. Each of the different weight classes has distinct advantages when played with certain playing styles so spend some time playing around to find which one suits you best.

The game contains 32 different tracks and each of the tracks can be run in several different modes. This includes but is not limited to be run in shortened, long or reverse modes. As players drive around the course the pick up power items that can be used on themselves or against their opponents depending on the type of power up that they pick up. These items are obtained by driving though them.

Some examples of the power ups are the Mega Mushroom, which grows the character to a humongous size and makes them capable of flattening the competition and the Thunder Cloud which causes lighting to strike opposing players.

In addition to the power ups there are many unique features to this game including the ability to slip stream and jump start off the line. Again most of these maneuvers take some practice but are not so difficult that can not be mastered quickly.

A major feature of this game is that it will allow you to play against other players online in races and battle modes. For the first time you can race against friends or worldwide competition.

I have to say that this installment of Nintendo Wii Mario Kart is the best in the Mario Kart series. The online play alone is enough to push it over the top, but the realistic game play and extensive board selection make it truly unique.
