Checking Out The New Sony PSP Slim
For the avid gamer in the group, any new advancement to a much loved gaming system may be met with some skepticism. After all, if the original was good why try and change it? It seems as if, companies just keep making improvements on the originals, and then consumers are also left with trying to figure out if this new system is worth the investment.
The Sony PSP slim is the next phase in the Sony PSP hand held gaming systems. The Sony Playstation Portable was first introduced in May of 2004 at a press conference conducted by the Sony Corporation. It was designed to not only allow the user to play games, but also download music, watch movies on it and it can even access the internet. Gamers can also "chat" with each other while playing games.
The gaming community embraced this new hand held gaming system and the system has enjoyed a high level of popularity. The Sony Corporation began looking into ways to improve upon the system and the Sony PSP slim was created and introduced in July of 2007.
Looking At The Sony PSP Slim
The main difference in between the original Sony PSP and the new Sony PSP slim is the size of the unit. The new Sony PSP slim is smaller and lighter weight. While this is a convenient feature, many true hardcore gamers may not be so concerned with the weight of the system as opposed to how well the games look and how easy the controls are to use.
The Sony PSP slim has controllers that are slightly raised, this allows for easier playing of the system. Gamers like the fact that they can feel the controllers better, and seem able to manipulate the controls faster, which of course, means they can play the games quicker.
The Sony PSP slim also has a feature that allows for it to be hooked up to a HDTV television and play movies. Anytime a gaming system can multi-task brings the consumers in to check it out.
Another new feature exclusive to the Sony PSP slim is the "UMD Cache" option. This option claims to let the gaming system load games quicker for less wait time. Initial tests do show that this does seem to work, although it is really only a few seconds difference on some of the games tested.
The new Sony PSP slim is certainly worth taking a look at and games that worked on the original PSP will also work on this new version too.
