Zinc oxide, titanium oxide and octocrylene are compounds that can inhibit UVA and UVB rays. These compounds particularly zinc oxide and titanium oxide can be found in most sun block products. They are regarded as active ingredients. Even all-natural sun block products such as Badger Sunblock contain zinc oxide.

Titanium oxide and zinc oxide are less probable to cause skin irritation. Zinc oxide has antiseptic and antifungal qualities making it safe and beneficial for the skin.
