Qualities Of A Good Treadmill Machine
Like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. This can be true of treadmill machines, depending on what you want that treadmill for. If you are buying a treadmill machine for personal use, then you don't need the top of the line heavy-duty machines with all of the bells and whistles that an owner of a health gym would. But, despite the price, all good treadmill machines will have similar qualities.
Sturdy Deck
Good treadmill machine decks will be at least a quarter of an inch thick. The treadmill machine's deck is what supports the belt (the moving part). You are going to be walking or running on the deck a lot more than the belt. Ideally, you want as much cushion on that deck as possible, so you don't get any injuries from pounding on top of a hard surface. Joggers get these kind of high-impact injuries.
What Will You Do?
You need to look for a treadmill machine that will match what you plan on doing. Ideally, you should talk to your doctor before devising your exercise schedule. If you are really, really out of shape, then it would be much better for you to walk rather than jog. If you want to walk more than run, look for wider decks. This will be sturdier for walking. Try out the treadmill machine to be sure that it doesn't change speeds on you suddenly.
Storage Saver
Unless you know that space isn't going to be a problem, you should invest in the kinds of treadmill machines that fold up for easier storage. It is estimated that people will have to move into smaller houses and apartments - but most people in big houses still have space problems due to clutter and other assorted possessions.
Warranties
All good treadmill machines will come with some sort of limited warranty or even a guarantee. If you are not buying directly from the manufacturer, check to see if the store you are buying from offers any extra warranties of their own. Be clear about what the return policies are before you buy. Some stores that sell used treadmill machines and other exercise equipment will offer limited warranties.
Monitors
Although absolutely essential for treadmill machines, there are times you want to check your heart rate to know that you are not doing too much exercise. Having heart rate monitors can greatly take the guesswork out of developing an exercise program.
