Is There Such A Thing As Permanent Wart Removal?

Warts have plagued mankind since we crawled out of the ocean. Some of the earliest known magic spells in Europe are for wart removal. Warts often are seen in children, who somehow never seem to get them for decades into adulthood. However, warts can pop up at any time in your life. Sometimes they are just embarrassing, but sometimes they are painful. Is there such a thing as permanent wart removal?

Say Hello To HPV

Warts are caused by the human papilomavirus (HPV), not by curses or kissing frogs. The Mayo Clinic reports that there are more than 100 kinds of HPV, and all of them give you warts. You contract HPV by getting it from someone else who already has it. This is one of the reasons why children get it so often. Their bodies haven't been exposed to HPV as many times as adults.

But no - there is no such thing as permanent wart removal, because there currently isn't a guaranteed cure for HPV. However, there are many things you can do to get rid of any warts that do appear. Even if you don't, the odds are good that the wart will eventually go away on its own in a few months.

As an example, I had warts on my hands when I was a child. I probably caught HPV from another child, especially since I my family was a member of the local public swimming pool. (A warm, moist environment is ideal for harboring HPV). We used over the counter treatments to get rid of the warts on my hands. It has been nearly thirty years and those warts haven't come back. So, although not technically a permanent wart removal cure, it sure seems that way to me.

Over The Counter Treatments

For common wart removal that can work like my "permanent" wart removal cure, look no further than your pharmacy counter or the pharmacy aisle of your local supermarket. There are excellent products that work for warts on your limbs and do not give you any pain.

But if you get warts on your genitals or the soles of your feet, then these wart cures are not for you. They will hurt you more than help you. You need to go to your doctor in order to find a temporary or "permanent" wart removal cure. Although they might look a little weird, treatment for these kinds of warts are usually pretty good.

And, if worse comes to worse, you can always try an old magic spell to permanently remove the warts and transfer it to something else.
