Social anxiety disorder
While everyone will face some anxiety, it is for various reasons. Some of these reasons are justifiable while at other times it is both chronic and persistent, manifesting itself as a mental illness that is commonly known as social anxiety disorder.
The symptoms of social anxiety disorder include a high level of fear, worry and apprehension. Social anxiety disorder can be easily confirmed if a person is easily embarrassed or terrified of almost any social situation.
After a person suffers from these symptoms once or twice, they begin becoming fearful of it every time they are in a social situation. It is a cycle that is difficult to break, but certainly possible.
A person may suffer from social anxiety if they have to speak in public, however the mental illness is quite different from this. Whenever a person is suffering from social anxiety disorder they cannot live a normal daily life because they are afraid of socializing in any way. Whenever they do socialize they will blush, sweat, grow nauseas, tremble and even stammer. This fear of socialization can become crippling too.
Social anxiety disorder can be treated effectively with medication and psychotherapy. Another thing that work is cognitive behavior therapy. Most commonly, a person who is suffering from social anxiety disorder will be prescribed Paxil and Welbutrin.
However, since the 1990 there have been a lot more drugs available to help with social anxiety disorder. Many of these drugs have some serious side effects so doctors usually conduct a thorough history case study of the patient before prescribing them.
