The Reasons for Maintaining an Audio Book Library
The Reasons for Maintaining an Audio Book Library
There are a number of myths which surround audio books and these myths have a tendency to be somewhat negative. Because of this, audio books can develop a "bad image" and people opt not to build up their audio book library based upon these false premises. Of course, not everyone falls for the myths that are present because any trip to the local book store will reveal the fact that audio books are quite popular. After all, there are many THOUSANDS of titles available on audio book and if the books did not have merit they simply would not have many fans.
One of the myths that surround audio books is that they are for people who do not like to read. This is a silly notion because if someone did not like to read they would not be visiting bookstores for any reason whether it to be to build up their own traditional library or an audio book library. There are a number of reasons why people enjoy purchasing audio books and building up an audio book library and none of them have to do with a disinterest in reading.
Collecting
Some people like to purchase both the regular book as well as the audio book version as well. (Collectors can often be completists as well) Many famous authors have a large number of fans and these fans may wish to own everything the author puts out including hardcover, soft-cover and, yes, audio book versions of their top work. Collecting can be fun particularly if a person is fanatical about it!
Convenience
Some individuals travel a lot and when they are driving around in their car, they certainly can not pull out a book and read. As such, they may opt to pop in a favorite title from their audio book library into their CD player and let it help them avoid boredom while being stuck in traffic.
Business Reasons
There are a number of audio book rental services that have sprung out from a person's audio book library. Granted, a person would need a HUGE library to open up such a store, but over time the volume of titles add up and can provide the basis for a new business.
Of course, probably the main reason most people amass a significant audio book library is because it provides them hours of enjoyment and entertainment and, honestly, this should be reason enough to purchase audio books.
