Aluminum Awnings
For permanent awnings on your home or business aluminum makes one of the very best substances for economy and durability. While it is not often you can find a system that makes aluminum awnings in the retractable form, there are some extras you can put on a permanent aluminum awning that are hard to recreate with canvas or plastic.
Aluminum awnings are considered "fixed sunscreens" and are usually constructed with not only the covering piece that produces shade and weather protection over a door or window, but they often come with matching "side skirts" which enclose the covering on the sides and offer even better shielding of the interior of a building for avoiding sun fading of fabrics on furniture or floor.
While the aluminum awnings do cost more than a canvas or plastic awning, aluminum awnings have the advantage of being rust resistant and can last the life of the structure they are installed on. With a proper paint coat on the steel bolts and braces that hold your aluminum awning to the structure, you can rest assured it is a part of your building that may never need replacing.
Aluminum is easily primed and painted so your aluminum awnings can be color coordinated to fit the design and decor of your home or business building. Since the aluminum awning is made of metal, however lightweight, it should be securely enough fastened to the wall that even high winds will not damage or destroy it.
While the aluminum awning is made of a light
weight metal, it is still much heavier than a cloth awning so therefore it is somewhat limited in size. You would not be able to easily cover an entire patio with an aluminum awning but would need to add vertical support poles which would then make it a canopy rather than an awning.
