This is not always the case but as your credit rating plummets your employer can release you from your job based on your credit rating. Just keep trying and eventually you will find someone that will listen.

Probably the biggest shock to deal with after bankruptcy is losing your house. The home you put together with your own memories is gone. This is one of those situations where what's done is done and you need to move on. Be honest with the landlord and just explain your situation. Just like your job search honesty is all you have to offer people to offset a bankruptcy on your credit.
