How to Make Lavender Bath Salts
Bath salts are said to have healing properties as well as other properties that benefit people in a variety of ways. Lavender bath salts are great for relaxing and de-stressing after a long day at work. In spite of being great for your body, using lavender bath salts may not be as great for your pocket. Most bath salts are expensive which is why many people opt to make their own.
Ingredients for Lavender Bath Salts
To make your lavender bath salts, you will need two cups of Epsom salts (you can also substitute this with Dead Sea Salt), lavender essential oil and some coloring (optional). Before anything else, you will need to make sure that your mixing bowl is thoroughly air dried. Any moisture can melt the salt and sabotage your lavender bath salts. It is preferable to use a glass bowl, large enough to hold the two cups of Epsom salts with enough space to mix.
In the dry mixing bowl, sift through the two cups of Epsom salts (or whatever kind of recommended bath salts you are using) for any debris which may damaged your skin. Some salts have small stones or pieces of coral and rock which may have escaped the processing. You can then add the drops of essence of lavender into the Epsom salts while mixing thoroughly after every few drops. The intensity of your lavender bath salts will depend on how you like it.
After mixing the salts well, make sure you have no clumped pieces or wet spots due to excessive moisture or fluid. Take these out if there are some. Spoon the lavender bath salts into a clean, dry jar with a lid that seals well. Store this in a cool dry place if you are not going to use this immediately.
You have the option of putting coloring in your lavender bath salts to make them more attractive. The preferred kind of coloring is food coloring. The technique to adding food coloring to your lavender bath salts is to mix directly after a drop. This is to avoid the salts from melting due to the liquid food coloring. You can dilute the food coloring to attain your desired color but be careful in mixing the diluted color with the salts.
Your lavender bath salts are ready to use after some days. It needs to stand for some days especially after you add the coloring. It is necessary to note that not all kinds of essential oils are feasible for bath salts. Lavender bath salts are among the more popular.
