Looking for good cheap knives
I have always loved knives since I was very little. My father bought me my first camping knife when I was about 10, and it was my most prized possessions for a number of years. It was one of those cheap pocket knives that fathers get for their young sons. I think it was a Swiss Army knife. It had a small blade, a few extra tools, and an unassuming appearance. Basically, It was the perfect knife for someone just starting out.
My mom expected my fascination with knives to die out as I grew older, but it didn't. Instead, it became even more intense. Nowadays, I run a store specializing in cheap knives. It is amazing what you can get for just a little bit of money if you know where to look. A lot of the knife store blades that you see in your typical hunting shop can be bought at wholesale prices from the Internet. Sometimes, for the price of just one single knife, you can buy half a dozen blades in different sizes colors, and styles. You wouldn't believe the markup on cheap knives. It is incredible!
Of course, I mostly buy Bowie knives and hunting knives for collectors, but it's the same situation with cooking knives. I have a client who has us special order cheap knives online for him. I can buy them by the case, pass them on at a substantial markup, and still give him a good deal. All in all, it is a winning situation for both of us.
Some of the best places to buy cheap knives are craft fairs. Renaissance fairs in general are not great locations for buying cheap stuff, but sometimes outdoor markets are. If you go to an artist's stall, you can sometimes find extremely good deals on cheap knives and other useful wares. If businesses is good that day, you never know when someone will decide to hook you up with a good bargain. The savings can be pretty impressive.
When you're buying cheap knives, you have to pay attention to what they are ma
de for. Sometimes, a cheap knife is not the best choice. Ceremonial daggers and decorative knives do not have to be well made - all they have to be is pretty. If you're using a cutting blade, however, you want one that is nice and sharp. Otherwise , the are liable to break, putting you in danger. It is not worth saving 20 dollars if it means losing a finger!
