The original Labrador Retrievers were bred in Newfoundland as a dog that would be a companion to the hunter. These dogs were bred to have a quick mind and be able to retrieve water fowl without biting down and destroying the bird. However, they do have a jealous nature when it comes to their owners paying to much attention to other pets.
