Three Different Methods Of Heating Your Home
Come fall and it is time to think once more about warming up your home and switch on the heaters in anticipation of the winter months that lie ahead, though it is unfortunate but true that not everybody has a decent home furnace while others still may be living in homes that do not have the proper insulation and thus their homes get cold a lot faster than is desirable. Also, heating a home can be quite expensive and thus you may want to remain warm by choosing nothing more than a small electric space heater for the purpose in order to not have to pay the high costs of heating.
Convection, Radiation And Conduction
In any case, you can heat your home in a number of different ways including using different types of space heaters of a conventional type. Thus, you can choose between radiant heaters, conductive heaters and also convective heaters to meet your heating needs.
Conductive heating is a very simple and basic method of transferring heat and this is achieved when there is direct contact of the heat source with whatever needs to be heated, and since this form of heating requires more direct contact, it is not so effective a solution and so such equipment is not so widely available either.
A better alternative would be to consider radiant heating in which heat is transferred without using a medium such as liquids or solids and the transfer of heat is affected by radiating heat and this form of heater will heat the air closest to the heater first. Having heated the air closest to the heater thermal dynamics then play their part and make the hot air rise and when this occurs continuously, the room can be heated in most effective manner.
Another point worth noting with radiant heating is to remember to place the radiant heater in the best place in order to circulate heat within the room in a more effective manner and thus placing the heater close to a window will help in evenly distributing the heat though the heater should not be placed near the draperies or inflammable materials for fear of causing a fire.
You could even consider convective heating solutions in which use is made of moving air in order to make the process of heating a lot quicker. However, it is quite common to use both convection space heaters and radiant heaters in combination to get the best results, though in any case, convection space heaters consist of heat coils that are warmed up by passing electricity or using gas and there are fans within these heaters that blow the hot air from the coils into your room and this method of heating is very like how normal air conditioners work.
When convection space heaters blows hot air into the room there is better circulation and thus it is most effective in heating up the room, though you need to realize that such heaters are a bit more costly than you would have liked and also cost more than radiant heaters.
