Home Theater Audio Systems Add To Viewer Participation
It seems as though everyone that buys a new high definition television set wants also to install home theater audio systems to enhance further their viewing pleasure. Just as the world rapidly became enamored with stereo sound when it was first developed, continued technology advances with surround sound can now give the listener the illusion of being part of the images they are viewing through the use of sound separation. Four, five and even seven-speaker surround sound home theater audio systems can be installed to provide a feeling of being in the middle of the action.
In most home theater audio systems there are six speakers connected to the main audio controller. A bass speaker, usually placed in the front of the room, along with a left, center and right front speaker, provides the main surround stereo sound. To achieve the full effects of surround sound, there will also be a speaker in the left and right rear.
How far spread the speakers will be of the home theater audio systems will largely be determined by the size of the room, but they could all focus near the center of the room in order to appropriately diverge the sounds to the main listening area of the room.
Sound Only As Good As Input Signal
Even some of the best home theater audio systems the sound will be not better than analog stereo if the signal being used is not in digital format. Surround sound units require digital audio in order to effectively divide the sound signals and move them to the appropriate channels. If the input audio to home theater audio systems is analog, such as an audio output from an older model television, the resulting audio will be the same as the stereo heard from the television.
With many home theater audio systems integrated with an amplifier and a DVD player, it is possible to enjoy the digital sound qualities of surround sound when watching a DVD, but the sound will revert back to stereo when listening to sound from analog. However, if the television allows for digital audio to be output to the surround sound system, and there is enough input options on the surround sound system, digital audio can be enjoyed on different media.
The number of inputs available on home theater audio systems is one the primary options to look for, as there will be an input required from every device in the entertainment system. Many computer game consoles can also be connected to provide surround sound regardless of the image on the television monitor.
