Importance of an LSAT Timer

Becoming a lawyer is a grand ambition for many students. Therefore, they make it their aim to enroll in a law school after they finish an undergraduate course.

To enroll in a law school, they need to pass a standardized half day exam that measures there analytical, logical, reading and verbal reasoning skills that are essential for the study and practice of law. This test is called LSAT or Law School Admission Test that is administered by the Law School Admission Council. This test is administered four times a year.

The test is made up of six sections. The student should finish each section within 35 minutes. That means for the logical reasoning section, the test taker must spend about 1 minute and 20 seconds for each question. The reading comprehension and analytical reasoning section, which are divided into four parts, allow the student only 8 minutes and 45 minutes to complete each section and transfer his answers.

That means the LSAT is a speeded test. In other words, the test is designed so that majority of the test takers would not complete the test in the allotted time. Therefore, many instructors, review centers and on-line help sites strongly suggest that examinees should take LSAT practice tests under actual timed conditions. For this reason, the use of an LSAT timer is recommended.

An LSAT timer accurately imitates the timed situation that examinees will experience during the actual test. An LSAT timer should always be with the examinee when he prepares for the test. This electronic gadget will constantly monitor the practice session while the examinee tries to find a consistent pace in answering until he is comfortable with the speed and can move on through each section. As the student prepares for the test, he must use the LSAT timer as often as possible to find out the speed that maximizes his performance.

It is also important to be familiar with the LSAT timer. Generally, LSAC would allow test takers to the test center. However, the timer should not have panes or any other additional functions. Multitasking timers are not allowed. Even alarms, calculator and watches with timer functions are not allowed.

An important note to remember is that the test taker must use an LSAT timer that does not produce noise. Also, it is not necessary to check the timer every minute because the test masters would always announce that the each section is nearing its end five minutes before time.

LSAT timers can be purchased in the net. Or the test taker can go directly to PowerScore and order a timer there.

LSAT timers are a must if a student wants to score high and pass the LSAT.
