Black Lungs

We have all heard of the various types of lung diseases which can affect our health. Some of these are due to substances that you ingest into our bodies like cigarette smoke and others are the products of our lifestyle. Black Lungs is a disease which is known to affect the lungs of miners who work in coal mines. While we whose lives are not affected by the effects of this disease remain unaware, it is a nightmare for the families of the victims and the victims themselves.

Luckily there has been much research carried out on Black Lungs disease. As a result of this doctors are able to help the patients of Black Lungs understand what is happening to them. Treatment can start as soon as the suspicious symptoms of this lung disease rears its head.

Since Black Lungs is an irreversible condition it is best to catch hold of it in the early stages. This way the treatment will be more successful and death not an immediate concern. While the medical community is duly aware of this health catastrophe there are some coal mining companies which don’t have any type of protective health conditions implemented for the workers.

Additionally you will find that some coal mining companies are reluctant to implement any changes which will protect the safety of their workers. This is inspite of the fact that Black Lungs has been around for quite a long time. The names by which this disease is known is in itself a historical record of how long this health problem has been around.

Some of these names may be familiar to you while others are unknown. The first that we will look at is miner’s asthma, silicosis, dust disease, pneumoconiosis, coal worker’s pneumoconiosis, and pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.

You will find that sometimes the people who have become afflicted with Black Lungs can also contract other types of lung diseases as well. These will include pneumosilicosis – this condition is caused by a person inhaling stone or flint dust which contains particles of silica – or silicosis, which is also known by the name of grinder’s disease. In the silicosis disease you will find that there are different variations.

These variations are due to different types of silica which is present many of the minerals that you will find. You will find that besides these problems Black Lungs can be aggravated into a condition which is known as Caplan’s syndrome. This condition usually arises in rheumatoid arthritis patients.

In this condition of Black Lungs the Black Lungs disease combines with multiple pulmonary rheumatoid nodules. What all of this means is that from a dust as simple as coal, our lungs can become aggravated beyond repair.
