Principles Of Solar Energy Are Used In Active, Passive and Photo-voltaic Methods

There no doubts the fact that it is only through proper application of the principles of solar energy that we are able to produce enough solar energy so that almost every part of our planet can be benefited from using such energy. There are two methods that are most used in using solar energy and these are ‘active method' and ‘passive method', though there is also a third method by which to use solar energy and that is the one in which the sunlight is transformed into electricity with the help of photo-voltaic cells. The advantage to using photo-voltaic cells is that it is a means of producing solar energy that is very flexible and which provides us with a number of benefits.

Sufficient Amount Of Sunlight

There are also some other ways by which to put the principles of solar energy to good use in order to produce energy such as producing hydrogen from water, which are most useful in those parts of the world that are hotter than the rest of the world. There is however some amount of doubts being raised whether solar energy is indeed a viable alternative in the colder countries of the world, though mercifully for us all, it does seem that even these countries do get sufficient amount of intensity from the sun to put the principles of solar energy to good use.

On the one hand, principles of solar energy are most seen being used in what is described as the ‘passive method' of producing solar energy which is mostly used in residential accommodations in such a way that glassed off areas are used to trap heat very much like what are used in greenhouses. However, this method of using the principles of solar energy is not too well suited for the colder countries in the world such as the UK though the advantage to using it is that it hardly costs anything, if at all there are any costs involved.

On the other hand, the ‘active method' of putting the principles of solar energy to good use in our lives involves using heat collectors of specific designs along with water as a medium. When it comes to transporting the heat created, use is made of electric pumps or even gravitation, and the heat is then sent into a main storage tank from where hot water is then supplied, or circulated into radiators to heat up the interiors. It is another non self-sufficient energy source in countries such as the UK though it does have enough to it to meet quite a major proportion of total demand for energy in those countries.

However, photo-voltaic is certainly the one area in which the principles of solar energy are put to best use since it allows for supplying considerable amounts of energy at a local as well as central level. Because it is so useful a means of using solar energy, there are a lot of improvements being made to the devices used in photo-voltaic such as to the cells and also to modules and arrays so that better use can be made of such solar energy.
