They have worked long and hard and hopefully they have saved up enough money so that they can go wherever they'd like to go and do whatever it is they'd like to do. The baby boomer generation have many options when it comes to retirement. The hardest part is leaving behind their careers and their coworkers who many think of as dear friends and a part of their lives.

When the baby boomer generation thinks about retirement, this can be a huge step. The best way to go about it is just to plan for it and execute it. Tell your employers that you plan on retiring and give them a date. It's scary for the baby boomer generation to think about retiring but you don't want to work for the rest of your life. You've worked long enough. It's time to think about settling down and spending the rest of your days in leisure and doing whatever it is you planned on doing whenever you thought of retirement when you started working.

Do you have a hobby or something that you've always wanted to do but couldn't find the time because you were working? If this is the case, plan on doing that after you retire. Maybe you'd like to build a garden or build model airplanes. Maybe you'd like to learn to fly airplanes. This is to signify the transition between your working life and your retirement life. It should be fun and heartwarming and it will likely be emotional. But think of this time as a happy time because now you are taking another step in your long life. This time is yours. It's the time to do whatever it is you want to do. You are a part of the baby boomer generation and this is your time to live out the rest of your days on your own terms, without anyone telling you what to do.
