Choosing the Right Double Stroller
Choosing the Right Double Stroller
A double stroller is very handy to have especially if you have twins or children close in age. You can keep an eye on both at the same time and achieve a lot of things. There are, however, some disadvantages to double strollers like being more bulky than ordinary strollers and needing more space to maneuver the stroller.
Two Types of Double Stroller
There are two types of double strollers that can be found in the market; the ones that are in front of one another and the ones that are in line with each other. The double stroller that puts the babies abreast with each other will need a wider berth for entering doors and riding elevators. On the other hand, the double stroller that is narrower and keeps the babies one in front of the other is longer than the common stroller although narrower.
Choosing between the two kinds of double strollers will depend on the parents of the children. There are other factors which may affect the purchase of the stroller other than how the babies are positioned.
What to Look for in a Double Stroller
One of the things which parents need to understand when purchasing or choosing a double stroller is that there will be two babies in it. The weight factor will have to be considered since a flimsy double stroller will not suffice and will eventually break down due to the heavy load of two babies.
The frame of the double stroller in mind needs to be solidly built and have sturdy hinges for those that can be folded. The wheels of the double stroller must also be scrutinized and parents must consider that some strollers might be used for off road as well. Wheels need to be sturdy and well balanced in order to be considered for purchase.
The braking system of the double stroller must also be considered since this is something that may affect the safety of your children. There are many braking systems which are used for many different strollers. In most cases, the brakes are usually attached to the rear wheels while the front wheels are free to move around. This is fine for the double stroller that keeps the children positioned abreast but not so good for the strollers that put one child in front of the other.
Some considerations need to be given as to what type you prefer and what are the important factors that you want to have in the stroller.
