It might take you a while to get down the individual moves but once you have then you'll have lots of fun. Do these moves in front of a mirror because it's important to keep an eye on form. Do each one slowly until you can smooth each move out and do it faster.

Sexy Figure Eights

Figure eights one of the basic belly dancing moves that you can start with. Stand with your feet together and your posture erect. You don't want to be slumped and at the same time your body should not be rigid. Now hold your arms out away from your body and remember that the hips should be doing all the work. Imagine that you have a rectangle around your hips.

Now slide your right hip to the top right hand corner of that rectangle. Now you want to bring your right hip the bottom right hand corner. Now slide your left hip across to the top left hand corner of the box before sliding the hip to the back corner of the rectangle. Now center your hips. You have just done a figure eight with your hips. Just imagine you are making a figure eight with your hips and you will have the hang of it pretty soon.

Chest Circles

Chest circles are belly dancing moves that you can do very easily. First stand in a neutral position with your back straight and feet together. Now slide your whole torso to the right. Practice sliding your torso from right to left. You want to keep the movement parallel to the floor. Imagine there is a hook pulling the sides of your body to the left and right.

Next incorporate chest lift into the sliding motions. Before sliding to the left lift your chest up. Simply use your abdominal muscle and the muscles between your shoulders to lift your chest up before sliding to the left. Once your body has moved to the left you can bring your torso back to the middle. You have completed one of the belly dancing moves commonly used in routines.
