Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Is Not A Fix All

When you opt to have any sort of aesthetic plastic surgery, you must realize that you're only fixing an external part of yourself. Cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery can make your nose smaller, it can fix big ears, it can fix a nasty birthmark and it can make you fit in more with society.

However, you must realize that it is truly what's on the inside that counts. That's why many surgeons want to meet with you before you opt to have any aesthetic plastic surgery to determine if you're mentally healthy enough to have the surgery and to determine if you'll ever be happy with the results.

Exceptions

There are exceptions to the case, however. For example, if you are seeking cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery because you've been in a bad car accident, you have some sort of birth defect, or you have an abnormality that makes you not want to go out in public, then, sure, you should opt for cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery.

These types of cases cannot be helped by you and surgery may help you fit in more with society. If you have an abnormality that makes people weary of approaching you or kids point and say inappropriate things (they do say the darndest things after all), then you maybe should have the surgery performed.

Self Esteem

On the other hand, if you want to have cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery because you have low self esteem, then you might want to see a qualified psychologist before you think about having cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. That's because no amount of aesthetic plastic surgery is going to help you.

You have to love yourself first before you think about having surgery to change your outer appearance. You can do this by improving your self esteem, loving yourself, and just accepting yourself for who you are. Your surgeon should be able to determine if cosmetic and reconstructive surgery will help you or if maybe you need some mental readjusting.

Make an initial appointment with a cosmetic surgeon and see if you're a good candidate for this type of surgery. You may find that all you need to do is love yourself instead of changing your outward appearance. If, however, you are one of the unfortunate ones who requires cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, then by all means, have the procedure done and feel better about yourself.
