Having a dog for a pet requires a lot of time from any owner. If you do not have this luxury of time, then it would not be advisable for you to get a dog of your own. This is because this can greatly affect dog behavior.
Any dog owner would want to have a pet that exhibits proper dog behavior. But then again, there are so many factors that can be attributed to the lack of such in a lot of dogs all over America. Imagine how many dogs all over the world do not exhibit proper dog behavior. Thus, emphasis should indeed be placed on the importance of ensuring proper dog behavior.
There are actually a lot of dog behavior problems that can greatly affect just about any dog breed throughout any part of a dog's life. For starters, separation anxiety is actually a common reason as to why dog behavior problems develop. A dog becomes too attached or too familiar with an environment or person it is constantly exposed to. This can actually become a problem, depending on the dog's need for constant exposure to that familiar person or environment.
Other times, dog behavior problems, such as excessive barking and digging, are often caused by mere miscommunication. Yes, dogs do need communication from their owners. Being an owner, it is your responsibility to foster and fulfill this need for communication. Otherwise, your dog could very well develop dog behavior problems from this unfulfilled need.
You should also be firm in setting a boundary between what acceptable behavior is and what is not. And not just that, for you have to be consistent with this boundary as well. Consistency is of import here because you would want your dog to have a full grasp of what is acceptable dog behavior from what is not. Thus, employ consistency in this aspect.
Being alert to sudden behavioral changes in your pet can also help a great deal. Sure, your dog might be a little quirky every once in a while. There may eve
n be times when you would just let it slip. But this should not be the case always at all. There are times when you would have to lay down the plate and set things right for your dog. If you observe a recurring behavioral change that is negative in nature, you have to take action immediately, for this could develop into a serious dog behavior problem in the long run.
