Can You Afford An Ironman Elliptical Exercise Machine?
One of the reasons Ironman elliptical exercise machines are popular is because they are about the least expensive elliptical machines you can buy new. The average cost of an elliptical machine is about $2500 (US), while Ironman ellipticals are usually below $800 new. Before you start on any exercise regimen, talk to your doctor first to see if an elliptical machine would benefit you.
Back To Basics
Models like the Ironman 320e and the 250e are the most basic elliptical machines you can buy. They are the equivalent of a cell phone that only works as a phone (which, sadly, you can't buy). There are no bells, whistles, lights, meters or video game attachments to these models. All of those expensive extras are to keep the customer interested in sticking to an exercise routine. They don't actually affect your workout.
You can always park an Ironman elliptical in front of your television and stride away to keep your interest up. The stride you take is equivalent to the average person's walking stride, so these models are very comfortable for most people. Even with these basic models, you can still easily make adjustment for steadily more challenging workouts. They work with magnetic resistance, unlike other brands which run on electricity.
Luxury Models
If you think you need some bells and whistles to keep you more interested in regular exercise, there's an Ironman elliptical for you. They cost about $1200 (US), but if it helps encourage you to better health, it's a cheap price to pay. And it probably is cheaper than the cost of the gas you need to drive to and from a health club.
Before you buy any Ironman elliptical - or any other major piece of exercise equipment, for that matter - take your time in shopping. Compare not only prices, but warranties, shipping costs and guarantees. Although you could try to buy a used Ironman elliptical, you never quite know where it's been, and there usually aren't any guarantees with it. You might even have to go pick it up yourself.
Luxury Ironman elliptical models include the 2006 Evolution, which has places for you to grip that monitors your pulse. That way, you can much more easily monitor your pulse rate and keep yourself from accidentally hurting your body in trying to help it. There are also LCD displays and programmable exercise routines. Quite spiffy, huh? And they are made to last, so you don't have to worry about replacing them.
