World Contributes To Impending Energy Crisis
In the early 1970's, a gasoline shortage resulted in massive lines at stations across the United States. Despite the gloom and doom predictions of a national energy crisis there were only short-term measures put in place for conserving energy. Electric cars had been designed over 60 years ago and as recently as 2005, one major electric car manufacturer destroyed every vehicle produced, keeping the driving public on track for an energy crisis.
As the price of oil skyrocketed to nearly $100 a barrel it is not due to a shortage of oil that has people considering alternative energy sources as much as it is the price. When gasoline was under $2 a gallon, there was little mention of an energy crisis, but with prices 30 percent higher than that, as well as the cost of home heating continuing to spiral out of control, an impending energy crisis is still largely ignored.
However, conservations insist that the current price hikes in many commodities that rely on non-renewable energy for their production will soon be out of reach of most people as an energy crisis will make it all but impossible to find the materials let alone having them be affordable. Unless conservation steps are taken, according to many experts, the energy crisis will be the real cause of a real shortage.
Renewable Energy Sources Can Stave Of Crisis
According to these same experts, the time to head off an impending energy crisis is before it becomes out of hand. The use of renewable energy can save what little non-renewable products are available and if the demand for them decreases, the price will also go down. Turning off a single unused light bulb may seem like an insignificant approach but is a million people around the world does the same thing, it can save a tremendous amount of energy.
Avoiding an energy crisis is not about finding new non-renewable sources of energy, it is about being conservative with what is now available. Finding new ways to power vehicles and to produce electricity that does not require burning oil or coal can not only help avert an energy crisis but can also reduce the amount of pollution in the air.
By using what nature provides as renewable energy resources such as the sun, the wind and even the waterways can provide the power needed to relieve the chance of an energy crisis in the United States and around the world.
