Birthday Cake

For some, the importance of a birthday cake as they grow older ceases to exist. We may prefer to have a simple cupcake, a different dessert or even skip over any sort of celebration. But, for children and those who still welcome having a birthday each and every year, a birthday cake is of utter importance. For children, one of the biggest decisions of their entire year is to pick out what theme they want for their birthday cake and party. If a particular cartoon movie was a favorite that year, it may not be a difficult decision. For other children, they will change their mind by the minute as to what exactly they want on their cake. My own daughter, who will be celebrating the coming of age five, she can't decide if she wants My Little Pony, Barbie or the Care Bears. In her opinion, she should have a birthday cake with each of them. She simply cannot understand why we don't agree to allow her to have three birthday cakes.

We learned, the past few years, that getting a customized birthday cake from a bakery can end up costing more than what we were intending to spend. Afterall, it is simply an edible dessert that will end up being cut up into slices and on various sizes of plates. It shouldn't cost more than the presents do. But, society tells us that a birthday cake is a must have for a birthday celebration. For the majority of people, ordering a custom birthday cake and picking it up at a bakery is a convenience and a no-brainer. For those who enjoy the art of baking, making a birthday cake is something that comes rather easily. You can create the ideal cake for people of all ages and decorate it just as wonderfully as a bakery could. There are all sorts of cake kits available for getting the perfect shape and cake theme. There are icings and decorations that will help to put the finishing touches on the masterpiece that you are baking. Making a birthday cake for another adult may show a great deal of affection and love for

them. It appears much more personal. Creating a birthday cake for children can be a lot different. Your child may be quite sensitive to the perfections that a birthday cake should have. The cartoons have to be perfect. The decorations have to be absolutely perfect. They probably won't recognize that the amount of time and care that went into baking their birthday cake is priceless. To them, if it isn't exactly what they wanted, it isn't their perfect birthday. And, as our society dictates, birthdays should be special and memorable. Often times, the birthday cake is the most memorable part of the entire occasion.
