The Bass-ic Language of a Bass Guitar
The guitar stands tall in being one of the most popular of musical instruments used in the world today. Regardless of what music genre, guitars could be used in various performances, a truly versatile musical instrument which has become a profound influence in pop culture.
There are different classes of guitars in the world. There are acoustic guitars, electric guitars, left handed guitars, and archtop guitars. One of another of the many guitar classes would be the bass guitar. The Bass Guitar is basically a bass string instrument in which bass players use their fingers in plucking, slapping or use a pick in operating. As an instrument, it is usually used in conjunction with other types of musical instruments, the most common combination of which would include drums and electric or acoustic guitars.
A bass guitar is typically constructed similarly to that of a standard guitar, and usually come as electric bass guitars. Bass guitars differ from standard guitar designs in the sense that they come with larger bodies, have longer scale lengths, longer necks, and come with four strings, which are set one octave lower than that of the bass strings in a regular guitar. Certain types of five and/or six string bass guitars are also available, for those with specific bass guitar demands.
Electric bass guitars are preferred over double bass guitars, as they are smaller compared to double bass guitars. They have been used since the 1950s, and today has become a standard when music performances are concerned. Various genres of music utilize bass guitars in providing low-pitched basslines, giving music an overall tone and feel. Jazz, blues, rock, speed metal, and even pop and chill out, depend on bass guitars heavily, as well as with other popular musical instruments.
When talking about Jazz, fusion and funk, and even in Latin music genres, the bass guitar could be used as a solo instrument, with some truly gifted bass players bringing bass guitars further than their dedicated bass geared tones. Bass guitar players like Victor Wooten, are famous for solo bass guitar performances, which could even surpass some guitar performances. The Red Hot Chili Pepper's Flea, is also another famous bassist, known for his running bass performances, which has basically resulted to the unique Red hot Chili Pepper sound.
Handling a bass guitar may sound like a trivial thing, but is in no way anything near trivial, as handling any instrument is no trivial thing.
