HDTV Monitor Does Not Have To Be Part Of Unit

When most people think about a television monitor, they may forget that the screen on which the picture appears is a separate part of the television unit. Consider the home computer that consists of the central processing unit, where all the work is performed, and a monitor that allows the user to visualize the work, and the concept of an HDTV monitor may change significantly. For most, a monitor has to be a part of the unit, like the traditional television screens. However, for a few others, the HDTV monitor could be bed sheet hanging on a wall in the basement.

Just like a computer can still function without a monitor, a high definition television can still function without a built in monitor. The user just will not know it is working and what is being shown. There are some HDTV receivers that are connected to projectors and display the images on a wall or the proverbial sheet on a wall. However, since most conventional televisions have the HDTV monitor part of the unit, they should be capable of showing the images in high definition.

Connecting a high definition receiver to a plasma or LCD HDTV monitor offers the best option for viewing images in high definition. Whether the images are television broadcasts, movies or pictures from a digital camera, the resolution of the picture will be of the highest quality of today's technology.

HDTV Monitor Without HDTV Input Is Just A Television

Just as connecting a digital signal to a regular monitor does not make it a high definition picture, connecting an analog signal to an HDTV monitor does not automatically make it a high definition television. In order to make full use of a HDTV monitor the signal input has to also be in high definition, otherwise it is just a more costly television set as the picture will be the same as that on an analog monitor.

LCD and plasma are the two most popular forms of HDTV monitor styles and the difference between them may be significant to some, they will go indistinguishable by many others. The rate at which the images are refreshed on the screen as well as the brightness of the background may show under certain lighting conditions or with certain activities on the screen, for the general viewing public, the picture will remain the same regardless of the type of HDTV monitor being used.
