How To Look For Discount Backpacking Supplies

Everyone likes to save money and when you look for bargains and discounts there are things you should always get on discount and things that you may not want to skimp on. Discount backpacking supplies is a great example of both sides of this equation. When you are searching for discount backpacking supplies there are some things that you should probably not buy on a discount unless you are familiar with a product and you know it is just a great deal. Other things you should always get at a discount and save yourself money and hassle by getting discount backpacking supplies instead of shelling out top dollar when you don't need to.

Sometimes you can get great deals on quality discount backpacking supplies just because of the season of the year. For some reason many surplus and sporting goods stores will put their hiking boots on sale towards the end of winter and that is when you should get that new pair of boots. For some reason tents are the same way. When winter starts to approach tent prices will drop and that is a great time for you to snap up some great deals on discount backpacking supplies. Even though tents will go on sale standard camping equipment like canteens and compasses will not and that has always been somewhat of a mystery. But canteens and compasses are two things you should not go cheap on so if you have to pay top dollar for them then do so.

What Not To Save On

Probably the single most important thing a hiker will carry is his or her backpack. A backpack carries everything you will need to survive on your hike so maybe you should not include a backpack in your list of discount backpacking supplies. A tear here or a rip there and suddenly your food is gone or some other terrible thing could happen. So the one piece of hiking equipment you should probably make sure is top quality is your backpack. If you find a great deal on a quality backpack then that is great but otherwise get ready to make the investment.

From experience I can tell you that getting a discount pair of hiking boots is about the worst idea you can ever have. There is a reason why the good boots cost so much and you really do not appreciate that until you have been hiking for about an hour and then you can just feel the blisters forming on your feet and your ankles are just killing you. So be sure to invest in a very good pair of hiking boots no matter how attractive the cheap pairs may seem to be. You get what you pay for and when it comes to your feet you don't want to learn any lessons the hard way.
