Making Ranch House Renovations To Update Appearances
Most people will view a ranch house as a simple, one-floor home and will perform extensive landscaping work to make it stand out in the neighborhood. At some point, they may wish to change the appearance of their home and begin looking at ranch house renovations to make it more attractive and possibly more functional. To properly prepare to make any improvements, the owner needs to determine the reason they are considering making any ranch house renovations.
Typically, a ranch house will consist of a kitchen, living room, two or three bedrooms and one full and one-half bathroom. Most will sit on a full basement and many will have a garage attached, with entry through the kitchen. Making ranch house renovations can be something as simple as adding a porch or deck to the back of the home, enclosing a patio on the front of the house or partitioning the basement to create more usable living space.
One of the first steps when considering ranch house renovations is to determine what you want to accomplish. This can be done easily by thinking back about how many times you have said something to the effect that you wish the house had something that was lacking. Maybe an enclosed porch on the back with the back door opening onto a patio. Whether considering an open wood deck, a concrete floor with a roof, or a fully enclosed structure to offer extra space for relaxation or entertaining guests.
Adding Space Without Compromising Appearance
If you are satisfied with the basic appearance of your home, you may want to add individual space inside that will be reflected in the outer appearance of the home. Perhaps you find a need for more bedrooms, or want to add a study room or den inside the home. If the considered ranch house renovations will not fit into the home's basic floor plan, consider adding partitions in the basement to create separate areas.
The basement most likely has an area in which utilities are confined, such as a furnace, washer and dryer and hot water tank. By building walls around these areas, all in one confined space is preferred, the rest of the basement can be turned into a recreational area or family room. Additionally, more than one divider can be constructed during ranch house renovations to create more than one area to be used as bedrooms or to create privacy for studies or parties as the children become older.
