What If I Cannot Handle Home School Science?

You might have thought that home schooling your children will be a great way to bond; you like English and math and you look forward to doing activities with your children that will give you the opportunity to bond with them one on one and give them lessons that are up to the academic level where they are at; not where a class of 25 kids is at.

However, when it comes to home school science you are stumped; science was never your forte at school and you never really found biology, chemistry, physics or any other such subject very interesting. You ran away from dissecting frogs and mixing chemicals and now are wondering what you are going to do about home school science for your children.

Do Not Be Super Mom

However do not despair; home schooling our children does not mean that you have to be their only teacher. You can and actually should delegate some subjects to your spouse or another friend or family member. Perhaps you are a wordsmith, but your significant other or your dad is inclined towards science; let them help you out by doing this part of the home schooling curriculum for you.

Do not feel like you are not doing a good job at home schooling if you delegate home school science or any other subject to someone else. It is actually a very good idea. This is because you can get well deserved break and the children might be bale to grasp a concept better from a more skilled person in that area as opposed to you fumbling with the periodic table in chemistry or the ticker tape experiment in physics.

This argument doesn't hold true just for home school science; it is for any subject where you are not very comfortable. Some people even outsource some subjects to park district classes and combined groups where one physicist dad volunteers to coach a group of five home schooled kids. This is the way for you get the best or both worlds; a qualified instructor plus a more controlled group of kids.

Lab for Rent

Some parents even pool resources and rent a lab of sorts for home school science so that their kids can do experiment just like their counterparts would do in a traditional school setting. The cost will depend on the facility being rented, the number of people in your group who are willing to split up the rental fee and of course the grade level of equipment and apparatus that you will need. However, it is well worth the cost to get your children to have a more hands on experience in science.
