Types Of Indoor Plant Lights

Indoor plants need light in order to manufacture their food. To compensate for the lack of sunlight indoors, homeowners are recommended to supply artificial lights to their indoor plants. Indoor plant lights can effectively mimic and take the place of sunlight so that the indoor plants can survive.

Different Ways To See The Light

Light comes in different light colors which are measured using a light meter. Sunlight is what all plants use to manufacture their food and this is their natural light. This type of light has UVB and UVA. The problem with sunlight is that it can not be controlled by humans regarding when it will hit the indoor plant. Therefore, sunlight is not a reliable source for indoor plant lights. Plant owners would have to monitor their plants regularly and the sunlight reaching their indoor plants if they wish to use this type of light.

Incandescent light is an artificial light that is used to illuminate houses and other dark places using electricity. This type of indoor plant lights are on the red light type. These types of indoor plant lights give off a lot of heat which is one aspect which you must consider if you want to utilize incandescent light for your indoor plant light supply.

The other type of indoor plant lights available for us is the fluorescent lighting. These are consequentially cheaper than incandescent bulbs but are more expensive to install compared to the bulbs. The fluorescent lights even have specifically made indoor plant lights which are called plant growth lights which offer plants the best lights possible for growing.

HID lights are costlier than most lights and they are also the hottest of the lot. These are high intensity discharge lights that can emit the full spectrum of light that pants might need, but the heat they emit along with the light can be a disadvantage. Too much heat can make the plant wilt and the bulbs might also shatter when a splash of water from watering the plants hit it.

Overall, fluorescent indoor plant lights are possibly the best alternative to sunlight compared to the other types of indoor plant lights available. They do not cost as much as HID and incandescent light and they also lat longer compared to incandescent bulbs. These make the most suitable indoor plant lights because there are also fluorescent lights that are specifically made to be alternatives to natural sunlight.
