The Basics in Meditation Breathing Techniques

The first thing that comes to mind when you think about meditation should probably be relaxation. Since time immemorial, breathing exercises have been popular when it comes to relaxation. Thus, meditation breathing techniques should also be held as essentials for the discipline as a whole.

Meditation breathing techniques should start with finding that quiet place that would promote the discipline itself. Find a place wherein you would not be disturbed by external factors. Of course, disturbance does not merely come from external factors for internal factors are sources of such as well. The human brain, in particular, is an internal source of disturbance. You might think releasing your mind of your thoughts is a very easy thing to do. This is actually quite the opposite. In fact, without the proper meditation breathing techniques, you just might find it difficult to control your mind from entertaining all sorts of thoughts. Thus, you should pay much attention to meditation breathing techniques.

The basics in meditation breathing techniques would include sitting down. This does not mean you cannot meditate while you are in a standing position because this can be done as well. However, if you are new at meditation, then it would be best to start by sitting down. This way, you would get the hang of meditation breathing techniques faster. When you do get the hang of these techniques, you can then try the standing position when meditating.

Once you find the most comfortable sitting position, you should start out by taking long and deep breaths. Concentrate on your breathing. Feel the air fill your lungs with every deep breath you take. Pay attention to how refreshing each breath makes you feel. Once your lungs are filled with air, try holding your breath for a second or two. Feel each sensation when you hold your breath. Then, slowly let your breath out. Focus on the relief you would feel as well. The time you spend taking in each breath should be equal to the time you spend letting out each breath. Repeat the whole process for about five to ten times. After going through this whole process, you would definitely feel more relaxed and stress-free.

One great thing about these meditation breathing techniques is the fact that you can do them absolutely anytime and anywhere. You can even do them in the very convenience of your own home! You would not even have to leave the four walls of the most comfortable place you can ever be at.
