Although most doctors do not prescribe a special migraine diet for migraine sufferers, many doctors do acknowledge that diet plays a big part in the development of migraine headaches. If you suffer from migraines, following a special migraine diet may help you to cut down on the frequency and severity of your migraine headaches.
The Connection Between Diet and Disease
It's been known for centuries that what you eat has a direct effect on your health. This manifests itself not only in the shape and fitness of your body, but in the formation of diseases and other conditions. Even the rate at which you heal after an injury or illness depends on how healthy your body is - and the fastest way to a healthy body is a healthy diet.
You may be able to control your migraines by subscribing to a migraine diet. This is usually a list of foods that have been found to trigger migraine headaches in a large number of migraine sufferers.

Some of the most common foods which are warned against on the migraine diet are alcohol, caffeine, pickled foods, MSG, salt, cheese, and preserved meats. If you want to eliminate caffeine or caffeine-containing foods (like chocolate) from your diet, it's a good idea to do it gradually so that you don't make your headaches worse.
