The Everybody Votes Channel On The Nintendo Wii

The Nintendo Wii has some pretty cool features including internet capabilities. Along with internet capabilities, the WiiConnect24 feature allows the Wii to receive messages and data while in standby mode. This technology is what powers the Everybody Votes Channel, another innovative feature made available in February 2007 on the Wii console. The Everybody Votes Channel allows Wii users to share their opinions with people from all around the world by voting on questions about various topics and then seeing the results that are relayed to their Wii using the WiiConnect24 technology.

The Everybody Votes Channel gives Wii users questions from a list and two answers to choose from. Users vote and then return after the poll closes to view the results. Users can also predict what they think the outcome will be and see if they were right. Polls are from both the country the user lives in and world wide, giving insight into many different countries. The results are sent a few hours after the voting period ends. Voters can view the results as a pie graph to easily see which answer got the majority or look at the results according to region and gender.

Users can also view their prediction history to see how accurately they and the other voters from their household predicted the outcome of the polls. The "How Tuned In Are You" graph lets you see how close your opinion is to the rest of the world or country. All these cool features are calculated from your prediction results. The last sixteen polls users voted in are archived so they can go back and see how well they did compared to the majority of voters. The Everybody Votes Channel can give you unique insight into what other Wii users think as well as seeing how your opinions measure up.

As well as voting in polls, users can also suggest questions and answers they would like to see on the Everybody Votes Channel for Nintendo's consideration for use in future polls. The Everybody Votes Channel is fun and although it lacks depth will give you a few minutes of entertainment every couple of days when new polls are released. Regional questions are updated Thursday, Saturday, and Tuesday six at a time. World Wide questions are updated twice a month on the 1 st and the 16 th.

The Channel system on the Nintendo Wii is a unique addition to the video game console. No other video game console has features like the Wii's channels and as Nintendo showed with the stealthy addition of the Everybody votes channel in February, more cool channels are still to come. The Everybody Votes Channel isn't as informative as the News or Weather Channels but it is still entertaining and appeals to the masses which is the cornerstone of the Wii's huge success. If you have a Wii trying out the WiiConnect24 capabilities is worth it as the Everybody Votes Channel is a free download that everyone will find entertaining. And who knows, you may even learn something about what the world thinks.
