How Paintball Guns Work
Paintball is a game that utilizes a person's skill and ability in targeting and precision. Paintball guns are used to emit the balls that contain a mixture with dye to mark participants. The small flexible balls are designed to burst open upon impact with a solid object, usually any part of a participant. The basic principle of the game is to eliminate as much participants from the other team by marking them with the balls.
Paintball guns or markers are operated with the use of compressed air. Carbon dioxide is also used with the same capacity as compressed air to propel the small balls containing a mixture with dye to mark participants. Nitrogen is also one of the gases used in paintball guns. In fact, many participants prefer this gas compared to others because it is highly stable compared to carbon dioxide.
Regulations Regarding Paintball Guns
There are many safety regulations concerning paintball guns. The velocity of the emission of the balls must be controlled and must not exceed 300 feet per second. Those that exceed this velocity are deemed unsafe for commercial games and seldom tolerated by proponents of the paintball game.
In some paintball games, players are required to have similar setting of their paintball markers to have a level playing field. Some players have distinct advantages over other when they have more technologically advance paintball markers.
Types Of Trigger Action In Paintball Guns
The types of trigger action on paintball guns are quite similar to basic weapons system of some real guns. Pump action trigger mechanism for paintball guns are similar to shotguns that need to be cocked every time a participant emits a ball. Semi auto and full auto trigger actions are quite convenient for players because they allow participants to shoot off balls as long as the trigger is held down.
Burst mode for paintball guns allows the player to shoot off two to three balls at the same trigger pull. Many paintball guns allow the user to program the guns beforehand with how many balls to emit per trigger pull. A player with quick hands can effectively use this mode similarly to a full automatic mode.
The basic concept of the paintball game has stoked criticism due to some concerns regarding violence and the ease of using guns. Paintball guns have received criticism due to vandalism and being used as a deadly weapon when balls are replaced with harder shots.
