Paintball world cup: Only the Best Teams Qualify
The world's top paintball teams converge into the major paintball event of the year, the Paintball World Cup. The annual Paintball World Cup never fails to attract professional paintball players from Asia, Europe, and the US. But since it is a world cup, spectators can expect a series of more exhilarating adventures that will culminate into the championship.
In the preceding years, the Paintball Sports Promotions (the world cup organizer) had held the event in no other than the Disney Wide World of Sports stadium, and the largest paintball event in the world is going back there in October 2007.
As paintball is increasingly becoming recognized as a world sport, millions of enthusiasts are also hoping to participate in a paintball world cup. If your team does not qualify, though, the Disney grandstand welcomes spectators to the world cup.
Unlike tournaments, the world cup is held in a more controlled venue in which the crowd can cheer for their favourite teams. In the same manner, referees can openly supervise the game and call penalties whenever necessary.
While paintball was typically held in forest-like venues, the world cup had transformed the event into one of the sports that can be held in stadiums. This allows more spectators to actually witness, if not experience the excitement in paintball.
Paintball World Cup: General Rules
PSP is the organization that oversees the annual paintball world cup and is responsible for implementing general rules in the game, which encompass the following and all that related sections: staging area of the game, penalties, scoring, equipment, clothing, protective gears, markers (paintball rifles), velocity, and paintballs.
As a general rule, no player is allowed to modify or alter masks other than what the manufacturer has supplied in replacement. This helps prevent voiding of manufacturer guarantees. Gears are also well inspected prior to every event in the Paintball world cup - all paintball colors are allowed except for red and pink.
What to expect
The paintball world cup is the biggest paintball event in the world and what could one expect but more thrills and stunts delivered by the best players coming from various continents. You may also witness tactics that different players employ in order to seize the flag. Aside from the excitement, cash prizes as much as $100,000 are up for grabs for the best among the best teams.
For the 2007 event, PSP had sought the help of hotels within the proximity of Disney Wide World of Sports to accommodate thousands of players who've come to play in the cup.
